Hi all, it's been awhile since last update post. My surgery was March 28, 31 days in recovery. Doing very well, I can attest to the other OHS veterans that the waiting before surgery was definitely the hardest part. Once surgery was over I shifted focus on recovery and rehab. I've actually enjoyed this part of the journey. Getting better every day and can tell the difference in my strength and endurance improving. I've attached a video of me getting on my rowing machine on day 17, felt great! I've been slowly progressing to my stationary bike as well. Along with continued dog walks and gym workouts. I gotta say the rigid sternal fixation method to close the sternum back is a game changer. Definitely made a difference in my recovery time, very little pain and pretty much normal mobility. For those with upcoming surgery dates check out this method. There's videos on here from Dr. Gerdisch on this topic. Feel free to ask me anything about this.
Cheers

Greetings, got home yesterday from OHS. St. Francis in Indianapolis was the place and Dr. Gerdisch the surgeon. All went really well. The nurses, therapist, etc were all fabulous. Have never been treated with such caring and professional people. I told them the reason I'm here wasn't great but having them take care of me was awesome and memorable in a very good way. Posting a picture from within 24 hours of surgery completion. Incredible the amount of iv bags hanging. Want to provide a synopsis of the later. This morning kind feel like I got hit by a mack truck.

Timothy Williams Hang in there Dan. My surgery was March 11. I started to relax at T-2 days and was really calm the day before. You've done the homework, you have selected a prominent surgeon at a great institution. You are in good hands.
Dan Rhoden Thank you Timothy, hope your journey has been excellent!

Adam Pick You got this Dan... You are in great hands with Dr. Gerdisch. To help you manage any potential nerves or anxiety you may experience... Here is one of my favorite poems... The poem is called "Come to the Edge".
"Come to the edge," he said. "But, we are afraid," they said.
"Come to the edge," he said. "But, it's so high," they said.
"Come to the edge," he said. "But, we might fall," they said.
Wanted to pass along I've lost the "upcoming surgery schedule" feed on my news feed. I've scrolled down pretty far and don't see it. I may have accidentally hit the "x" in the top right corner of the display. How do I get that back? My surgery is Monday 28 and I'm getting a lot of good wishes from fellow valve replacement team members which is awesome. I'd like to pay it back by using that feature.
Thanks in advance for any help.
