Ted Miko Hi everyone! I hope the Lord is blessing you. So... After 21months after receiving a bovine aortic valve ,I'm excited to say that I'm almost back to my pre surgery size and weight. I hope this isn't too pretentious with the pic or statement. But I just want to encourage EVERYONE that has , is or waiting to "walk this mile " that it's WAY better , easier on the other side!!! I thank the Lord , my family , my surgeon and all on the form that encouraged and stood by me through this time in life. I'm 52 and feel 22!!!! It's amazing how much easier it is to train and workout. It is amazing! I can't keep say that enough! I feel so blessed! I spend my summer days cruising in my 66 Fairlane and racing my 67. Hitting the gym 4 days a week and when I have to work... Yuck lol. Lord has been good to me. Thank you all and the wait is the hardest part ( at least for me) the recovery a challenge but the results are AWESOME! God bless you !
Kirk Bepler Great job.. How long did it take for you to be able to start working out with weights again?

Ted Miko Hey Kirk. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I actually started training about 3 months after surgery. I did struggle with some training movements. Also I lost alot of size, from 228lbs to roughly 175lbs . from the surgery, so I was alot weeker. It had a mental affect on me. But I hit the weights and light cardio 3 days a week. I think about 6 months ago I did start to see results. Before surgery I trained 5 days one week 6 the next. Now I train 3, something 4days max. But I do spend more time in the gym. Its almost easier to train now. I don't have to rest between sets as long, and I never realized but I use to have minor dizzy spells that don't happen anymore. The Dr told me my heart was quite enlarged from training. But now it's almost normal. I consider myself majorly blessed that this was discovered and fixed. Because quite honestly I didn't even know I was "sick". But looking back Wow. My goals on my training have changed, I am no longer trying to put on as much mass. Now I'm more into balance of strength and stamina. So I will try to maintain between 200-210lbs at 10-12% bf. My diet is alot based on "heart Heath" with very little detours. Though I like a DQ cone on cruise nights in the summer. Lol. I hope this is somewhat informative. Like the surgery it's a tough thing to face and carry through, but after the initial hardship it's worth every minute you stuggle. I like to ad I have and never competed in Body building. I just always like to be pysical and try to stay in the best shape as I can. I had my ups and downs. But it's worth it. Every moment. Good luck in your jorney brother! Good bless !
