About Me (In My Own Words)
I am a 52-year-old male who was born with congenital heart disease. I have a past medical history significant for coarctation of the aorta and had it repaired with a patch only in 1976. In 2011, I had a bicuspid AV replaced with a bioprosthetic aortic valve. After that surgery (one week after), I had a VF arrest and had a dual chamber ICD implanted.
My bioprosthetic valve has worn itself out (12 years old) with some severe prosthetic valve degeneration (stenosis/regurgitation). I had re-do valve surgery and my aortic valve was replaced with an On-X mechanical valve.
