About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 61 years old, have been active my whole life. Stepped up my running after turning 50. Eight years ago I suffered a cardiac arrest due to a vfib event in my house. Fortunately my son was able to do CPR on me until the ambulance arrived. I was able to make a full recovery with the help of a pacemaker/defibrillator and resumed running. I had some issues with afib four years ago that was mostly resolved with an ablation. However in the last couple of years I have been struggling with running slower and slower then recently had another bought of vfib that my defibrillator took care of. It landed me in the hospital to get checked out and I was diagnosed with a severely leaking mitral valve. So next I will be getting it replaced with a mechanical valve and I am looking forward to being on the recovery side of the surgery and with any luck all the arrhythmia and palpitations that have been tormenting me will be mostly resolved. The battle to solve the vfib will probably go on but maybe an ablation for that is in my future. Time will tell.
