Send Celina a NoteAbout Me
I have mitral valve regurgitation that has been monitored for 20+ years. This past summer I was told the leaking had become severe and was referred for surgery. I have since been told that I have Barlow's disease. Luckily, I have had minimal symptoms - only some shortness of breath when exercising -and only for the last few months. In my case, the issue appears to be genetic as my father had the same issue and had his valve replaced (twice). Fortunately, medical science has advanced since he had his first surgery more than 30 years ago. My surgeon, Dr. Adams, is very confidant that he will be able to repair, rather than replace, the valve.
