About Me (In My Own Words)
Replace trifecta prosthetic valve implanted nine years ago. Failed too early but I got 9 years out of it, more that many. I hear the trifecta valves have been failing as early as 3 years.
2 months post surgery - Feeling fairly human again. Dr. Ryan replaced my Trifecta valve with a 27 mm Edwards Inspiris Resilia.
6 days in hospital - The worst day was with fluid on lung, BP up and down, AFib, nausea. 6 weeks feeling not so well, BP ups and downs persist. After 6 weeks feeling much better and after 2 months the only sign of surgery is BP still up and down but the only pain is a little sternal pain when coughing.
I remember the first AVR 9 years ago, It wasn't until 4 months when I felt 100%.,
They evaluated me for a TAVR but my cardiac height was too small. Dr. Ryan inserted a piece of Cow pericardium in my Aortic arch to enlarge the space needed to do a TAVR if I ever needed another valve. Thank you for being so proactive, Dr. Ryan!
