Hello, I am from Perth, Western Australia and am waitlisted for and AVR as I have a bicuspid aortic valve. I am struggling as to whether I go with a tissue or mechanical valve, and have recently discovered the Ross Procedure. I would have to go interstate for the Ross Procedure as I believe there are only 3 surgeons in Australia that do this.
I am an active 46 year old who rides horses daily so being on blood thinners would probably mean giving up riding.
