About Me (In My Own Words)
I had Hodgkin's disease 18 years ago. Three years ago I had a stroke related to my undiagnosed aortic stenosis from the radiation treatment. I now have severe aortic stenosis with very few symptoms. I do get fatigued when I climb two flights of stairs while I'm able to walk mile and a half on most days. I have a really positive attitude and I'm trying to maintain my strength. I am a mental health counselor and I'm working with stroke survivors. It's been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience for me, since not working after my stroke was really hard for me. I was a Bereavement counselor at Hospice at the time of my stroke. The surgery scares me with the thought of complications. I don't have a date yet, but right now I'm targeting August . I'm living my life and loving every moment of it every day. 💕

I'm awaiting a redo for my Aortic valve replacement. Unfortunately, it has failed, but we are not sure exactly why it is leaking. definitely more symptomatic with a leaking valve and I was with the Stenosis, Shortness of breath and lots of the fatigue. Seeing various surgeons and awaiting corrective surgery. Hopefully it will be TAVR!
