About Me (In My Own Words)
My story I was diagnosed 5/2013 with CHF and basically told due to my size ( I was 505lbs at the time) I most likely would not live much longer having tried almost every diet out there I found a surgeon that did Gastric Sleeve surgery on me I lost 130lbs but not enough to keep me from having a heart attack and later diagnosed with Afib. Still facing my own mortality I was not feeling that great I was in for a routine Echo and found out I had Aortic regurgitation this was 6/2015 my doctor told me that Duodenal Switch surgery would help me lose more weight and ultimately keep it off. At this point I knew I had to do whatever I could to insure my surviving what was to come I found myself depressed thinking "why me" but I learned this is very normal. I found a wonderful group on Facebook of people that have been through open heart surgery and valve replacement and talking to others really dose help. After months of reasearch and chatting with others in this great group I had OHS on February 2nd of this year I have had a few setbacks along the way. But I am doing much better now my Aorta was basically shredded according to my surgeon it was the worst he has seen in a long time. I am currently In the post op phase and doing ok I have a ways to go but I am getting better each day thanks to Dr Raymond Singer and my On-x aortic valve.
