About Me (In My Own Words)
hello, my name is jeniver. my friends just call me jen.
i am a 37 yr old mom of 3. my angels are avery-8, addison-6, & ashby-3.
i love to play any sport, run long distance regularly, kickbox, kayak, anything that involves activity and fitness. i have had a curve ball thrown at me.
after several dr. visits and a number of tests...i found that i am the lucky winner of a Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Aneurysm that measures 4.3!!
i am also in a crazy statistic of less than 1% of women that have both of these heart disorders.
i am still trying to wrap my brain around this news. i am leaning on my husband, adam and our dear family and friends for support.
trying to get used to my "new normal"

Well...that was 8 years ago when I found out that I had a funny little heart. Since then I have run thousands of miles to help keep my heart strong and my body in shape. As usual I go to the cardiologist every 6 mths and get tests to check up on that little booger. I started to get used to hearing the same ole same ole (which was a good thing) until my last echo. About 2 weeks ago I had a virtual appointment and my dr. tells me things have changed and she is uncomfortable with the now severe regurgitation and severe stenosis. Dr. Cosmai (my cardiologist) told me I need to contact my surgeon and make an appointment. In the mean time she booked me for a heart catheterization. I had it done 4 days ago and feel pretty good. The HC showed my regerg/stenosis were in the moderate range, but my aorta was enlarged and he could barely get the cath into it. So,...both my cardiologist and the Dr. that did my HC both agree it will be time for surgery in the next few months. I see Dr. Kevin Accola on June 15 and will get all my questions answered an then some.
Until next time...
