About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse when I was about 12 years old. At the time there was little to mild regurgitation and I was told to just watch it and so I went for an echo maybe once a year. The last echo I had was in 2011 and I was told it was still mild and so life went on and I didn't think about it again for 6 years..... fast forward to 2017, as I turned 40 I decided to take a closer look at my health and so I went for an echo and was shocked to hear that my regurgitation had become severe. After several months had passed, I had another echo and a TEE and my doctor has now referred me for surgery. I still have no symptoms....I think... (Just left atrial enlargement)... or at least I don't think I do. Since this whole ordeal started, I now question everything I feel!
Interviewed 2 surgeons and happy to have my repair done with Dr Glower at Duke on 9/4/18
