About Me (In My Own Words)
I am a 66 year old male that was diagnosed with non rheumatic aortic stenosis, thoracic aortic aneurysm without future and a bicuspid aortic valve. I am in the process of looking for a hospital and surgeon for valve replacement and correction of aneurysm. Looking to find statistical information on hospital and surgeons in the Minneapolis area for number of valve replacement and aneurysms completed by hospital and surgeons.
I have decided to move forward with a mechanical valve for the aortic stenosis and they will be fixing thw aortic aneurysm at the same time. Surgery is October 17 with Dr Benjamin Sun at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis.
It has been two weeks from my surgery for valve (mechanical ) replacement and aortic aneurysm have been completed. Everything went well and I am home recovering. For me the anticipation of surgery and recovery were worse than the reality of it all. I am up and walking and schedules for cardiac rehabilitation starting November 10, which I am really look forward to doing. I am in program to regulate my warfrin. I am thankful to this site because of the information provided a good step by step of what was going to happen through out this process, which allowed me not to be surprise with the journey . It is amazing to me how resilient are bodied are.
