Hi, Kent! Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I had Open Heart Surgery for an aortic valve replacement and a bypass on 9/9/22, and now I'm home recovering. Don't worry about discomfort--the anticipation is much wore than the actual discomfort--you will be sedated during surgery, of course, and given the right meds for pain management afterward. You will be so happy you got this over with so you can start on your recovery. Sending healing vibes!

Hi Kent ,
I have a mechanical st. Jude’s mitral valve , I ‘m two years post op now . My wound / sternum healed really well without any problems . The wires , I can ‘t feel them , but I ‘m glad they are there . They help keep me together .
Which ever valve you choose will be right for you . It will keep you alive and your life will go on , thankfully .

Kent, I just received a mechanical aortic valve 3 weeks ago and also had an ascending aortic aneurysm removed. Each day will get easier especially once you get home from the hospital. There are good days and some not so good, just be kind to yourself and allow your body to heal inside and out. Sending you love and prayers!💕

Hi Kent! I see your surgery is coming up, pretty soon. How are you feeling? I was pretty nervous, but all i remember, is being wheeled into a large room with lots of nurses, doctors, anasthesiologists, techs, not sure who else. But i remember asking everyone " is everyone focused today? 😁 they laughed, and said they were!" Thats the last thing i remember.
They do this everyday, Kent, and they are damn good at it too! So relax. It will go smooth! Reach out to me if i can help, or anything.
