About Me (In My Own Words)
My journey started 2019 when I had to advocate for test to be done for many undiagnosed health issues. I am an American who lives in Canada with my partner and feel that the American in me has to be more aggressive navigating my health manifestations here in Canada. My health challenges started many many years ago but when I finally had MRI’s and then a CT Angio that found that I had Artery Disease with multiple plaque buildup that allowed me to be a candidate for heart surgery. So I have a Bicuspid Aortic Valve that is calcified and narrowed and my Angiogram showed I have a 50% calcified artery. The Surgeon determined that he will do a Bypass along with my Valve replacement. I also have to monitor an Abdominal Aneurysm every year to determine the size. I have been waiting for my surgery for over a year and now its here. After surgery I need my Hernia dealt with and look forward to that chapter of recovery in this lovely human temple of mine.
The feelings we go through are strong and many have a faith that I do not share but I do grasp a spiritual belief that allows me to see my journey in a different perspective. The feelings that surface have my beliefs challenged and have me thinking and looking at death with different eyes. Starting this chapter set me in search of many different insights and finding Adam’s website searching on Google led me here. I was surprised I did not find any local support groups anywhere here in Vancouver BC through Meetup. Thank you to Adam and all of you warriors who exhibit such courage and support.
