About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with mild mitral valve prolapse in my 20s. I am now 60. In Late March I had my annual physical with the PA at my doctors office. She mentioned my murmur was very loud and I should start seeing a cardiologist. I told her in the past few months I had some dizzy spells and heavy chest feelings. Otherwise I’m in great shape, exercise never smoked
Well my cardiologist chatted with me in late April. He listened to my heart and things got busy. Echo and 7 day heart monitor. Follow up on may 15th and he said I had severe mitral valve regurgitation. And then I went into afib in his office. !!
Last week I had an angiogram and TEE back to back. The next day we met with my surgeon and now surgery is Wednesday. Not much time to plan. Luckily my husband is a nurse and I’ve been a pharmacy tech on a cardiac unit for 18 years. We understand it all but my anxiety is rough. Wish me luck!
