About Me (In My Own Words)
I wasn’t diagnosed with Aortic Valve Prolapse Defect until about 6 years ago. The murmur in my heart was heard years ago but the cardiologist had said I had mitral valve prolapse after chest pains and returning and doing an echocardiogram I was re diagnosed by the same doctor for Aortic Valve Prolapse. I obviously switched cardiologist.
My new cardiologist was in Houston TX . I went regularly until I began a new career and was traveling all across the country and I just didn’t have time to go home.
My husband suffered a heart attack March 14, 2019. It was a real eye opener for us and he insisted I return to my cardiologist. So I did; went for an office visit and of course a stress test and echocardiogram were ordered. I received a notification that they were not concerned with the results. Yay ! That same day I had an echocardiogram done and was on my way ! I finally got called to a job in Ohio. Well I was happy until the phone rang and my world came crashing down with the words ...... Dr Younis is concerned with your echocardiogram you will need to have a heart cath done and you willl need to have your Valve replaced soon. Soon ??? What is soon ? Why ? How bad is this ?
Well they called again the next week and said my stenosis was severe and within the next couple of months I would need to have it replaced. Yeah for me that was unacceptable so I started to research amongst all the tears flowing from my eyes. All of the research I found was from Cleveland Clinic and as God had made things happen I was going to be just an hour away !
I requested an appointment online, waited impatiently for a call and began the process of having all of my records transferred.
I was hoping that they would have a different opinion but it was the same result from the review.
So I have my appointments set July 9 I have a ton of test and appointments. July 10 I have a heart catherization. July 11 I meet with more doctors and nurses and I will have my Aortic Valve Replacement on July 12 !
I appreciate not having to go back and forth to the hospital a million times but I do suffer a lot of anxiety not knowing what all I will be facing on my Big Surgery day !
So for now I am giving it to God and trying my hardest to just let the doctors do the worrying!!!!
