About Me (In My Own Words)
** Just for the record, I go by the name of Gary **
I have been monitored for Mitral Valve Reguritation for the past 18-months. Cardiologist is now scheduling me for some internal tests to determine next step(s) to be taken.
I have been scheduled to undergo two procedures on May 5, 2016:
• Transesophageal Echocardiogram
• Cardiac Catheterization
It is my understanding, once these procedures have been performed, the next phase of my treatment will be determined.
I am past the shock, the fear and am looking forward to moving forward. At 74, I am still working and have not had any health problems.
The two procedures mentioned above were performed - the findings indicate my Mitral Valve looks as though it can be repaired, rather than replaced - during the process, it was determined that I have a 100% blockage of my Right Coronary Artery (somehow my body found a work around this blockage - no physical symptoms). Discussion with surgeon led me to making the decision to have both repaired at the same time; thus, open heart surgery (non-emergency / I am still working everyday).
