About Me (In My Own Words)
36 hours after birth in Dallas TX, I received my first open heart surgery to repair my pulmonic valve after being diagnosed with critical pulmonic stenosis - a congenital heart disorder. I was able to live fairly normally with my heart condition until college when I began having syncopic episodes and I received my second heart surgery where I had a 15 mm Atrial Septal Defect repaired via catheter surgery. A week and a half ago (1/8/16) I had my second open heart surgery and third heart procedure to replace my native pulmonic valve at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. The right side of my heart had grown to be twice the size of my left side and as a result caused some change in the functionality of my tricuspid valve. I received a tricuspid valve repair along with my pulmonic valve replacement. I am a 23 year old who is so happy to be a part of this community!
