About Me (In My Own Words)
Back in 1981 (I was 16 yrs), my doctor said I had an innocent heart murmur. I was given a beta blocker and blood pressure medicine. I was given orders to have an echocardiogram every 2 years. I quit both the beta blocker and high blood pressure meds. I was obedient with the eschos until 1990 and my cardiologist said I didn't need to come back or have echocardiograms. In 2005, after my third child, I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. In 2011 my cardiologist diagnosed me with mild mitral regurgitation. I was then prescribed metoprolol lessen the load on my heart. I started to have symptoms again the early part of 2014 and scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist. I had another echocardiogram in April 2014 and learned I had moderate mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation and trace pulmonic regurgitation, mild diastolic dysfunction and small PFO. My cardiologist said he will see me in a year. Lately I am having a lot of PVCs and short of breath and chest pain. I am in the wait and watch category and hope I remain there. I need to prepare my mind in case I do need surgery so I thought I would join the group. Thank you!
