3-15-2024 update:
I was hoping to be part of the MechTech Chord repair trial (a catheter procedure) and skip the whole open-heart surgery gig, but that trial is not accepting low-risk patients yet.
So, after 4 Surgical Consults I decided to do my surgery with Dr. Marc Gerdisch at Franciscan, and feel so fortunate he is willing to treat me. I had a thoracic surgery when I was 14, over 50 years ago - lungs that time- and I’m really grateful for the advancements in care and the Rapid Recovery protocol and full team approach taken by Dr. Gerdisch. The plan is to fix both my leaky valves and close the left appendage - and get me back to my life and work asap.
