About Me (In My Own Words)
When I was 28 years old, went to doctor for bronchitis. Long story short, had AVR two weeks later. At the time I noticed I was not able to run as much but thought I was just out of shape. Chose porcine valve because did not want to deal with comoudin, stroke risk, or potential of hearing the valve. Surgery went well, and post-op had Dressler's syndrome and small fever, but overall went smoothly.
Almost 15 years later, the porcine valve is failing and i have severe aortic insufficiency and looking at what my options are including TAVR, SAVR and bio-prosthetic vs. mechanical.
