About Me (In My Own Words)
Hello Family, Friends and Fellow Heart Surgery Folks!
My name is Salvatore Joseph Cafiero, I am 66 years old and pride myself in living a healthy lifestyle of rigorous exercise, healthy eating and an occasional glass of Italian red wine. When diagnosed with Mitral Valve Regurgitation, I could not believe this happened to me. My family and friends could not either. The common response from everyone I told was, "But Sal, you are so disciplined about exercise and living a clean healthy lifestyle. Be that as it may, I am scheduled for surgery on March 13, 2019.
I try my very best to stay positive about all that is going to happen in the coming weeks, leading up to the surgery, entrusting my surgeon to do a flawless job mending my heart and focus diligently on my recovery. I've become a firm believer in the power of prayer and talk to my Creator, the Archangel of Healing, St. Raphael, and my parents in heaven for their divine grace over me at this challenging time in my life. I am truly humbled the loving outreach from my fellow musician brothers and sisters, my friends from my employment, my 1971 Tempe High School classmates, my big Italian family and all of my friends. Feeling their support calms my heart in the most special way.
My surgeon, Dr. Amabile is a Godsend to all of us who rely on his expertise. The moment that I first met him I felt confident in his confidence that all will go well. Dr. Amabile, my heart is in your capable hands and I ask that your guardian angel is right beside you at all times.
I extend a sincere THANK YOU to all who read my story and continue to support me throughout my journey. I will do my best to update this journal and share my story with you.
