About Me (In My Own Words)
My story, well it’s a long one but here it goes! 🫀I was born with a tumors on my heart the largest of which was in my aortic value. Unknowingly they let me go home from the hospital after my birth where I then started having seizures. My poor mom had no idea I had anything wrong with me nor did the doctor why they sent me home. Which then of course lead to them finding the tumors on my heart. Thankfully no tumors anywhere else in my body. They did surgery to remove the largest tumor in my aorta and left the other two. Which left my aorta small and misshapen since the tumors grew with me in womb. So in a way my aorta stenosis is one of a kind and I have been watched close with echos and ekg my whole life. The other two tumors disappeared with no fuller surgery needed for them. I was in the watch and wait from that point on, to see what my valve would do. I have had the same cardiologist my whole life until I moved to OR. I have a enlarged heart, a murmur and a irregular heart beat and aortic stenosis.
Which for the Fast forward to now, well 10 days ago. After a sleepless night with my heart racing & feeling like crap I went to the ER. I’m stubborn and didn’t wait to believe my heart was getting worse even though I felt new worsening symptoms for two weeks at that point. On March 10 at the trip to the ER where I was diagnosed with AFiB. I’m going to have a TEE & cardioversion on April 6th. Feeling nervous for this up and coming procedure. But also what this means for my overall heart and if this mean I will have to finally replace that valve.
