About Me (In My Own Words)
Hello! My name is Sherry. Here’s my heart valve story! I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse as a child with no symptoms except a heart murmur. After the birth of my son over thirty years ago I developed irregular heart beats and my doctor placed me on medications which worked for years. But in 2013 , I started to experience severe fatigue, my echocardiogram showed I had severe mitral valve regurgitation with an ejection fraction of 25. I eventually had a successful valve repair in 2014. It’s been over 10 years and my cardiologist & surgeon are monitoring me closely to see if I may need a 2nd surgery. I have no symptoms and my ejection fraction is stable at 60-65% . I’m having a second opinion at Cleveland Clinic . I’m glad I found this website and look forward to meeting people with similar experiences.
