About Me (In My Own Words)
Im in England so some of these details won't be appropriate ie regarding surgeon and hospital.
I have only just been diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis. Sorry, thats a lie. I was diagnosed with mild AS 3 years ago and told I didn't have to think about if for 20 years. How wrong was that? 3 years later I had another echocardiogram and its showing as moderate/severe!
So Im panicking and need to find out as much as I can. I don't think I have any symptoms. I did have shortness of breath for about a year or so but that seems to have been asthma and near enough sorted out with asthma medication etc.
So, now Im left with waiting for my first cardiology appointment.
My real worry is Im ashamed of this diagnosis. Im only 59 and I lead a healthy life; my daughter has type 1 diabetes and we purposefully eat a good healthy diet for her. I hardly drink alcohol. I am moderate with exercise and clearly thats a good thing I didn't start running marathons!
So I need some information because apparently the valve is heavily calcified and I dont understand howI have that huge amount of calcium to make an effect at 59 as opposed to 80.
My parents are 87, my Grandarents lived to 97 and 93. Everyone says how long I'll live because of my gene pool and little do they or me know.
Help!
