About Me (In My Own Words)
On 11/26/2016 I had robotic assisted mitral valve repair for severe regurgitation at the Cleveland Clinic. According to the surgical report it was a complex repair and it was myomatous valve disease. The surgery went well with only a short bout of tachycardia/a-fib that was treated with metoprolol.
On a follow-up echo 1 month post op, my cardiologist said the regurgitation was 1+, but was not too worried about it.
At my next visit in August 2017, he thought that the murmur sounded about the same and I was taken off the metoprolol.
In February 2018 I had another echo and it showed 2+ to 3+ regurgitation and there appeared to be leaking around one part of the annuloplasty ring. I was scheduled for a TEE so that he can better see what is going on. Blood tests were done to make sure I didn't have endocarditis, which came back negative.
I had the TEE on 3/2/18 and the regurgitation is 3+! Looks like some of the sutures came out & are not holding the annuplasty ring. The pictures will be sent to Dr. Gillinov to review so I will be waiting to hear what happens next.
