Recovery is going well after my mitral valve replacement on 7/9/24. Seems I am getting stronger every day. Biggest issues right now is edema (on Lasics and Potassium) and A-Fib (on Amiodarone). Hope both clear soon. Take care everyone.

Diana Chamblin-Bevirt Anna, I had mitral valve repair on 6/28. 4 days after my surgery, my AFIB started, and I was treated with Amiodorone via boluses, then a drip. They discharged me on oral Amiodorone, tapering down every week. At 3 weeks out, I’ve had no AFIB for over a week, despite tapering off meds. My surgeon said the heart is angry and irritable due to the surgery and needs some time to calm down and find its rhythm again. Hopefully your AFIB will soon be a thing of the past! Good Luck!

Rose Madura Anna, I'm sorry you are dealing with Afib and edema. Afib is common for about six weeks after surgery. Hopefully it will clear up soon for you. It's the pits, as are the meds. God bless you.

Four days away from my mitral valve replacement surgery. So happy to have my family there with me. Feeling a bit anxious but also looking forward to being on the other side of surgery. Cardiologist always said it's not "if" you need this surgery, but "when". Well, the when has arrived. :)
