I have almost completed around 11 months post surgery and going good. As post surgery I am on Warf, my diet had to be modified and I was asked to avoid food high in Vitamin K (like Cabbage, Broccoli etc.). I was just wondering about others how they have coped up with change in diet or has it changed for anyone? Didn't came across any posts on this yet.
Also, is there any authentic source where I can check on the content of food for Vitamin K. I have seen multiple websites but all differ in the content of Vitamin K someway or other.

W. Carter I'm 11 mo. post op also. As far as vit. k foods go, I was told to not pig out on them and keep the same level weekly so your warfarin dose will stay the same. If you eat greens on wed. and sat. every week continue to do it every week and your inr won't change once your warfarin dose is adjusted for it. Also I was told at the pro time clinic cabbage wasn't bad for the inr. I like cole slaw and they said eat all I want. :-)

Lee Anthony Sabala I'm just over 2 weeks post op and my doctor says just to eat "normal". Was over correcting with low-fat, low sodium diet pre-op that I'd lost so much weight.

W. Carter, you are correct in saying that the food intake should be consistent for INR to become consistent. My INR is not getting stable and keeps on fluctuating. So my Warf dose is still getting adjusted after each test. Hope that this will stable soon.

W. Carter Anurag, Warfarin is a weird drug, there are so many factors that effect the inr readings. Some people don't know this, exercise will also lower your inr. I had to increase my dosage by 2.5 mg a week when I started walking 20-25 miles a week. My total weekly dosage is 45 mg. My inr usually ranges between 2.5-3.0. Like you my inr is supposed to be between 2.5-3.5 so my numbers are close to perfect now. It just takes time.

Your body’s metabolism is a complex physical and chemical process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy.1 The energy is released into your body when the calories from the food you eat are mixed with oxygen.
