Good morning all, I just want to put it out there if anyone needs to talk. I was born with aortic stenosis and had my first surgery at 16 when the drs felt I had stopped growing. My next surgery was at 39 yrs old when my valve was replaced with a mechanical valve which I was told would last forever. It did last for 25 years but stopped working due to scar tissue. My third surgery, and last, was in May 2024 replacing the mechanical valve with a bovine valve. Getting off of coumadin for 25 years is wonderful as I can enjoy salads any day of the week again. I did receive a leadless pacemaker before being released from the hospital for afib and currently on Xarelto, probably forever as my heart has seen a lot of trauma throughout the years. My doctors at Cedars Sinai and all the staff were phenomenal and I would highly recommend this #2 hospital in the country for any of your cardiac needs. A special shout out to Dr. Bowdish who treated me, the person, instead of just my heart.
