Hi. I m 63 old Indian. Just got AR valve plus repairs of Arota from premier private hospital. The procedure was successfully done in Feb 2019. My EF in Jan 2019 was 58 percentIt went down to 30 percent when I had surgery. My EF has further gone down to 25 percent. I am largely physically fine with good food intake. While Blood pressure goes upto 150/80 when I go for check up. While it usually is 125/75. .I m on beta blocker medication and weight fall is happening. Now my weight is 66 kg. . Please advice as to how I can improve EF and arrest wright fall. Thxs

Susan Lynn I was also told that I had a drop in EF after my heart surgery and that it was not uncommon. I was given two drugs to aid in "heart remodeling". They were low dosages of metoprolol and lispinopril. My understanding is that the increased blood flow can cause the drop and that it is possible that these medications can help your heart acclimate if given within months after surgery. If you're not satisfied with your treatment post-operatively, find another cardiologist. You need to be sure that you're getting the most progressive approaches to resolving this issue.
