Has anyone else experienced a defective Sorin BOVINE aortic valve that degenerated before four years had passed? My surgeon informed me that a tear had occured in the center of the valve with minimal calcification.

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Don. Not long after my surgery there was a post regarding the Sorin product and I asked my surgeon about it. Like you I have a bovine Sorin valve that was placed a year ago on Aug. 20th. He said that they had been using this valve for some time with success but that he understood that reading an article on this would concern me. So I realized it is inside me now and appears to be working well but I am a realist that any of the valves could have problems. I will be looking further into this now that I have heard of your experience for an update. I am upset for you that you had to have this second surgery and wish you a better outcome this time around. Keep us posted when you can if you hear of any more information on the Sorin valves but more importantly take good care of yourself and know I am sending a healing prayer your way today!
