Michael Meyer Mr. Blank:
DId you have minimally invasive surgery? I did have such a procedure and am 5 months post op and still have numbness in my right pec. The numbness is diminishing and I did participate in cardio rehab which included a heavy dose of weight training. I have continued that weight training post rehab. I am not sure if that is diminishing the numbness, but thought I would mention it. I experienced numbness, but would not characterize as uncomfortable.

Terrie Syvertsen Hello there. Yes others share the pain you are describing and I myself have begun having pain under the arm that goes around up the right side into the chest after lifting my dog when he lost his balance and needed lifting(he is old and has hip problems). Not a bright move on my part as I am 9 wks. post op and the sternum is still healing. This is what my cardiologist says of these pains- body is still healing and even attempting to sleep on my sides will produce this type of pain as my body is telling me to give it more time and work on gentle stretching. It will go away is a bit according to my cardiologist. Body is healing! Good luck.

Also--my husband is a primary care doc, and many of his cardiology associates say he is great!

Hi there! Hoping someone can help....Looking at Dr. Ackers (open heart with sternal cut) and seeking a second from Dr. Hargrove (minimally invasive). Both are at u Penn.
If i can spare the sternal cut without diminishing the outcome that would be great.
Any thoughts out there? Are you on the bypass machine longer with minimally invasive surgery for mitral valve repair?
Thanks! Shooting for beginning of Sept. Keep on ticking all!!!
