Reimbursement from American insurance companies and Medicare (for those over 65) varies significantly. If you let them know you're paying directly, they will likely be able to quote you a cost they're willing to accept. As part of my research, I considered a surgeon who wasn't covered by my insurance and was quoted $150,000 US dollars for a mitral valve repair. That's only for the surgery itself - there are several pre-operative tests that have to be performed before your repair. Be sure to inquire about those costs, too. I wish you the best of luck!

Klara Čičić  Hi, I had my surgery in Germany and paid out of pocket. Price wasn't unbearable. Price in the USA was unreal if you are outsider without any insurance.
