Hello Adam and everyone on this site. I have a question. 134 weeks ago today i had a new aortic valve placed and CABG x 4 at St Barts Hospital here in London. The care i recieved was as good as ive had at any hospital in the world. I recovered very quickly and i have enjoyed everyday since. My question is this. Has anyone who has been through any type of heart surgery had the Covid virus? If so did having Heart surgery make it worse? Any answers im very grateful for. I do not have the virus and i have not had it.

5 months ago, I had the Ross Procedure to replace my aortic valve and my Cardiologist got COVID for the 1st time, a couple of months ago. He advised me to take all precautions against COVID for a full year after my surgery. My wife & I have had the latest (bivalent) booster & we both continue using masks & plan to do so for the 1 yr period.

Patsy Stewart James, I was warned by my cardiologist not to be around anyone where I could contract the virus. He kept telling me that I wouldn’t survive. I have a lot of other health problems along with my heart diseases. In July, my husband unknowingly had Covid and gave it to me….and our son. It made me horribly sick, but I survived. I had had the first 2 Covid vaccines along with the first booster. When I got the first vaccine, a doctor came and talked with me and told me that the vaccine wouldn’t work for me. My cardiologist has had me to quarantine from the very beginning. I’m still not supposed to go out in public. Covid made me very ill. I started paxlovid the day I tested positive. I was in the emergency room later that night for breathing treatments, and have had some treatments after that as well. I was in bed for a solid 3 weeks and needed help just getting to the bathroom. I NEVER want to experience Covid again! I have since had the latest booster, and I am hoping that one day I can join society again. My son moved back home to help care for me way before Covid. Most of his work can be done from home. He has kept my spirits high and has done everything in his power to make life a happy one for me.
James Conway Rajan,Patsy and Rose please accept my sincere thanks.

Hello Everyone.
On Thursday of this week it will be 88 weeks since I had open heart surgery at Saint Bartholomew's Hospital in London
I am standing at my desk here in London typing this.
During this surgery I had CABG X 4 and I had a new Aortic Heart Valve placed.
I tried my very best to talk the doctor's out of surgery, Thank You Lord for making sure they didn't listen!!
The surgeon and the various cardiologists I saw at St Bart's saved my life, I am so grateful.
Now my question to you and Adam.
I have tried very hard to avoid the Covid 19 virus, so far successfully.
After 88 weeks am i still highly vulnerable to it.
I took the first two vaccines and i recently had the booster jab.
Has anyone got any idea on how bad it would be for me if i did catch it?
Are there any statistics available?
I would be grateful for any input.
Thank you all so much for reading this, and for at the least the 50 th time. Thank you Adam for this website.
The information i have gleaned from it has helped me a lot.

Rose Madura Hi James. From what I've read and understood, if you get COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated, your chances of having to be hospitalized are greatly reduced. Your symptoms may be less severe as well. But the thing about COVID is that it affects everyone differently. Personally, I feel safer having been vaccinated. I always suggest that people discuss the situation with their doctor.
