I had minimally invasive mitral repair surgery and I took 8 weeks off. I also attended cardiac rehab which was very helpful. I went back to work the first week working half days.

Lynne Ladd  Hi Jennifer... I am 5 weeks post op. Am finding lots of comfort and information in the posts made in this blog. There are similarities and differences, and everyone's Journey is different. Putting a time limit on when you should feel like yourself again is tricky. Everyone's body heals at its own rate. It is a roller coaster ride emotionally and physically. I am seeing improvement every day albeit small. I have great days and not so great days. I start Cardiac Rehab this week and look forward to what it has to offer to build up my strength. I started driving this past week. A major milestone which alleviates the cabin fever. I am rambling on here, but hope it offers some encouragement as you start this journey. My thoughts and prayers are with you this week as you undergo your surgery.

Kenneth Cole  Jennifer, we all heal at different time. I'm 72 and it took me about 10-12 weeks before I felt I was completely healed, but I was wrong. For me it was about 16 weeks, but you are much younger, just be careful not to do too much too soon. God bless you and your surgery team.

Sonny Abbasi  Every time I think I am healed, something new pops up. I am 5 weeks post op Aortic Valve Replacement and still get new things pop up. Last couple days was discomfort around chest (not pain and not on the incision itself).
