Hey! The posts are so helpful for us pre and post OHS patients. Thanks you for this resource! I am a 70 yr old OHS recipient, one year out. 3 months after surgery I developed AFib and have been on Eliquis and Sotalol. I do not generally do well on beta blockers, and have struggle this entire year with lightheadedness and nausea almost the entire time. I sleep well, but after being up for an hour and moving around I begins to develop these symptoms. Sometimes they are gone in a few hours, sometimes not. My sotalol regimen has been reduced by 3/4, eliquis is the same 5mg twice a day. Echo results are favorable. Has anyone else experienced these problems? Having a follow up with an EP next month.

Marie Myers I have seen several patients on this site having issues with beta blockers. Sometimes switching to a different one helps. Do you check your BP at home? The lightheaded and dizzy feeling might indicate your BP has been too low, so the reduction in dose may be the answer for you. Hope you find a solution soon!

Hey! I’m a 70 year old former gym rat at 11 weeks post recovery for aortic valve replacement. I’ve been in cardiac rehab for 2 weeks, and pretty much feel better every day. What seemed “typical” for many at 8 weeks is comparable to how I feel now, and maybe not even that “healed”. Looking
healed from the outside, but still healing on the inside. It has been a humbling experience, because I feel I am no longer in control of what phase I’m in. My heart pretty much tells me what I can or cannot do, and I have to respect that, and be satisfied with every step forward I am allowed to take. Cleveland Clinic was amazing every step of the way.

Rose Madura Hi Kay. Sounds like you are doing very well, all things considered. It is a humbling experience, isn't it? I actually do not think that there is a "typical" answer for you. Everybody is so different and the best advice I can give is to listen to your body and dont try to compare yourself to others.

Susan Lynn Kay - I agree with Joy and Rose, everyone's recovery is a little different. One day, you'll turn that corner and will need to remind yourself that you had heart surgery. It takes time, but better, more consistently good, days are ahead. Hang in there! ❤
Ron Weaver Sounds like you’re doing well. Who was your surgeon?

Kay Swain I received my heart valve replacement by Dr Unai at the Cleveland Clinic. Returned today to be evaluated by an electrophysiologist to look into my arrhythmia. I will happily share any insights I receive, as , I believe they have seen it all here!
