My husband and I see the surgeon tomorrow regarding the planning of OHS for his aorta aneurysm. The discovered in December while implanting a stint that he had this condition. Prior to stint he had no health issues that we were aware of. Apparently he had hypertension that had been untreated. Since my mother passed away during triple bypass in 1986, 5 days before she turned 42. I am freaked out to say the least. My husband is 64 years old. Are there things as a care giver that I may need to know that I don't already?
Any and all information is welcome and appreciated!

Susan Lynn Welcome, Kimberly. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis and the loss of your mother at such a young age. Rest assured, the advances in medicine have been significant since your mother's tragic experience. I'm sure you'll receive responses from the heart warriors on the site who have dealt with aortic aneurysms, but the one thing that is a constant for all of us OHS patients is that educating yourself about the options, surgeons, and facilities is key. The greatest comfort comes in doing your homework and knowing that you made the right choice for treatment. The best surgeon might be across town or across the country - interview as many physicians as necessary until you find the one that you trust. You've come to the right place for support and answers. Please feel free to ask any you may have.
Rob Sparling As usual, I agree with Susan 400%. So no need for me to add.... 😀

Kimberly Kristensen Thank you both for your feedback...I am trying to educate myself as much as possible. I worked for a doctor many years ago for almost a decade and he taught me to research and ask questions and don;t trust just anything people tell you. My mother passed after coming out of surgery and into recovery and had to be taken back in and she suffered a massive heart attack when they tried to take her off the bypass machine the second time. I have arranged to pick up a recliner for my husband so that he has multiple options to try and be comfortable once home. Today we see the surgeon to discuss scheduling. He is anxious, scared and depressed he told me yesterday. I think he just wants this to be over with. Having been told that he needed the surgery but he had to wait at least ninety days has been taxing on him. He is self employed so that makes it hard for him to plan when we don't know when and what. they have said he is a candidate for the "David Procedure". I will know more later hopefully.
