Just to let you know that my AVR surgery was a complete success! The surgeon is very happy with my recovery so far! I want to thank all who have sent prayers and messages of support. and that I will continue to pray for. Those awaiting their surgery.

Well, I'm sitting in my kitchen having a cup of tea and thinking that in about 5 hours, I'll be checking in to hospital for my aortic valve replacement surgery tomorrow. I still have so many things to do, including packing my case, cleaning the house and making last minute work arrangements. I've been fighting a sore throat with Lemsip since Sunday morning. Thankfully, this morning, it seems to have cleared up. So many thoughts are going through my mind at the moment, like "Will I make it through this operation?" My surgeon is a great friend of mine and I trust him completely. He has told me that he doesn't anticipate any major problems and that I should come through just fine. I'm only human though, and am very apprehensive. I'm reflecting on the many messages of support that I've received from family, friends and neighbours, and am humbled by and grateful for all the many masses and prayers that are being offered for me (and for my surgeon and his team) by so many people. Please God, by this time tomorrow, the surgery will have begun and I'll be on the road to recovery. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the experience that many of you have recounted, of feeling as if you've been hit by a train, because by and large, I acutally feel quite well at present. That being said, I've received so much encouragement from reading your stories and hearing of your successful outcomes. I was going to finish this entry with the above, but just now received a text message as I was typing from my local Funeral Director wishing me well!!!! Got to have a sense of humour.
