Haven't been on this site in awhile. I have been experiencing devastating depression. And now I'm starting to get slightly out of breath like I did before my two previous surgeries! Of course the fear creeps in" is this my valve going bad again!?" I have an appt with my cardiologist on July 15 and I'll be getting my yearly echo so I'll get more info then. Has anyone out there experienced more than one valve going bad?

Clare Auten Lynn, glad to see you again but sorry to hear you are having trouble with your valve. I know how bad depression can be. Hope you get some good news from the doctor in July. Keep us posted. We will say a prayer for you.

Meredith Bray Oh no! i get slightly out of breath sometimes too, and other times I can feel my heart pounding like it did before surgery. But most other times I'm not even paying attention. July 15 isn't far off.

Terrie Syvertsen Lynn, I am sorry to hear about the depression and know that for the past few weeks here in Manteca, when I walk in the "Hood"" I find myself a little out of
breath. Our air quality "sucks" between the 103 degrees and off and on fires burning I think it contributes to the air quality all over California. Glad you are having an echo in July so you will get an answer fairly soon and I hope it isn't a problem with the valve. I hope others in the community will have some answers that will help. Lynn Quast Thank you all for your responses! You know Meredith and Terrie, if you two get out of breath maybe it's not my valve! Gives me hope at least! Maybe I'm just fearful because this is my second bovine valve. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for your encouragement!

Just letting people know I'm not new to this site, have been using it for over a year. But deleted my profile for awhile. Had to use a new email and profile in order to join again. I don't come on often, but there's an enormous amount of information and help on here. And I do check on heart friends I've had since I started . It's a truly lovely site and Adam is an amazing person for all the help he's given all of us. Anyway, I check usually once a week. I've had 2 replacement (aortic valves, both bovine) . Had my share of complications but now I'm dealing with the aftermath of thinking problems and increased anxiety and depression, which not everyone experiences. My second surgery was very long, 7 hours, and I was in the hospital 10 days. My first was 3 hours and home in 5 days. So I think that has contributed a lot to my slower recovery. Also my surgeries were only 21/2 years apart. Hard on bodies I think. Anyway, I've learned so much from so many on this site and all Adam's wonderful information . I'm very grateful for all the support I've always gotten here!!! Thank you to all!!! Life, no matter what the challenges, is always a gift!!

Virginia (Ginger) French Lynn, It is so great to hear from you! I loved it when I first opened the site and saw your smiling face beaming on it!
You have had a tough run of it. And I agree that thinking problems and anxiety and depression are much more common than most people are willing to believe. And I believe they are more likely when surgeries are major and close together in time.
There are good days and days that are not so good.

I send you, dear friend, hugs and so much love, and keep you in my prayers. You are one of the treasures I was blessed to find on this site!

Cheryl Batzing Lynn, glad to know you here! I had mitral valve repair on Dec. 16 and am on the recovering side. Have had some issues recovering, but overall ok. Thanks for posting.
