Hello community. Have an MRI scheduled of my heart in April to determine if I am a candidate for the Ross Procedure. Live in South Jersey, so I've been going to Penn. Any thoughts/insight would be greatly appreciated. At times I feel overwhelmed
I had reached out to Adam Pick because I wanted to know successes/failures of the Ross Procedure and who/where are the high volume doctors and hospitals. There doesn't seem to be much data out there.

Grace Mason This may help you narrow down surgeons who do perform Ross. Many of these surgeons you can look up on the surgeon finder here in Heart valve surgery. I had mine at Mt Sinai in NYC with Dr El-Hamamsy. I highly recommend. https://therossprocedure.org/
For patients facing aortic valve replacement, the options leading up to surgery can be overwhelming. Learn more about the Ross Procedure.

Mark Odenheimer I just turned 45. I have been seeing first Dr. Bavaria at Penn and since he has left Penn, I've seen Dr. Nimesh Desai, and he is the person who suggested Ross. I had only heard about Ross because of Adam and interviews that I watched with him. All that info is great, but DATA is what I'm after.
My mom had had a heart transplant at Penn in 2008, so I am comfortable there, but also want to make sure that they are the best fit for me.

Sue Maize Hi Mark! You’re in good company here with those who’ve been through the Ross as well as those who’ve done a lot of research on all these options. The data is definitely out there—you want to go to a Ross “centre of excellence” which means high frequency and volume as well as successful outcomes. Drs. Paul Stelzer and Ismail El-Hamamsy are probably number 1 and 2 in the US, certainly in terms of volume (800+, 700+ respectively) but there are others all over the States—Cleveland Clinic and others. I’ve no doubt you’ll get lots of feedback here. I’m Canadian and we don’t have nearly as many, but I started with the website Grace shared and found it super helpful. Good luck!
