Thank you Adam for this site. I learned a lot from the notes, videos, feeds and book. They were a tremendous help figuring out what to do and understanding what happens. Here are some things I learned from my hospital stay. What I wish I brought:
baby wipes - I could get disposable washcloths from the nurses but a pack of baby wipes would have been much more convenient.
spill proof sippy cup - Cup with straw is not spill proof!
Longer charging cord for my phone. Unused electrical outlets are not always conveniently available by the hospital bed. Maybe an extension cord if you don't have an extra long charger cord.
travel pillow - Something to prop up my head while sitting in my chair. I had catheters in my neck for much of the time so any pillow would have to be small enough not to interfere with the drip lines.
What I did use:
toothbrush + toothpaste - The hospital provides toothbrush and toothpaste. Brushing teeth was part of the pre-surgery cleaning procedure. I preferred to use my own.
What I did not need:A robe and flannel shirt were the bulkiest items I brought. Didn't use either.
robe - I doubled up on the hospital gowns instead of using my robe. Hospital also provided cotton robes. Can ask for new gowns/robes as needed.
shirt /sweater - I used a hospital blanket instead
slippers - I did not bring any. The hospital socks with grippy soles worked fine.
Your hospital likely has wifi for the patients. The connections might not be so good though. Best not to be reliant solely on hospital wifi for internet. I stuck to my cell connection for most of my stay.

Useful, but I did not use:
ear plugs - If background noises bother you, definitely bring ear plugs.
