Went for cardiac consult, Doc says stenosis is ok and still have good flow. So it's best to put it off as long as possible. Says we may still go another two years. Aortic aneurysm isn't big enough to work on. Said to return if I have severe chest pain or blackouts. I was surprised.
I have an unusual sensation in my neck the other day and so local Doc ordered a carotid artery ultrasound, carotids are clear but they say I have "altered wave pattern" can anyone tell me what this means?
Corey Sines Never heard that before, maybe this: ?

I see cardiologist on 17 August, to talk about new echo test and new symptoms. Known about the bicuspid aortic valve for almost 20 years. Looking forward to surgery date, although I do get anxious at times (writing this at 3am). This site has helped. I had lots of questions, but most have been answered. I was most worried about what to take in my hospital bag, but Conrad fixed that. (Thanks Conrad) . I try not to talk about it much as I think everyone is over it. I think I'm going to opt for a mechanical valve and be on warfarin for the rest of my life. I don't really want to do OHS again. I think I have most things planned for recovery.

Corey Sines I am with you, the first time you do OHS, you don't really know what to expect coming out of it. If you have to have it again, you know EXACTLY what to expect. Its always hard to say, yes sign me up for pain, agony, not being able to wipe my own bottom again!!
I think that's why some, who are borderline for the criteria, consider TAVR, even though the technology isn't proven for long term durability yet. it is encouraging to think the future, as the technology matures, that most valves will be delivered this way.
Michelle Harrod Thanks Corey, I didn't think about wiping my own bum! 😂
