Emily Rowley Scary :-S Recently there was case of Legionnaires' disease coming through cooling systems/air con in shopping centres, train stations & Hospitals had to check. I read in the article about being a public hospital, does public or private hospital make any difference? Here need to be careful of harmful golden staph infections in public hospitals esp theartres due to having emergency centres for the public to come in, meaning less controlled environment.

Phyllis Petersen Most of the time Emily, we don't know whether a hospital is private or public. It's more about their financing, but both usually take the same insurance. There are a few public hospitals that get a lot of patients from poorer areas and many uninsured and wait times in ERIN can be long, but I know enough medical personnel from them to know quality is often excellent at public ones too.

Hello,I"m a 51 year old male. I had my Aortic valve replaced with ST. Judes mechanical valve in 2004. Last month I was getting my INR done and I fainted. My cardiologist did an xray of my chest. They told me that they saw something and they had to keep me there for one night. The next day they did a stress echo and Transthoracic Echocardiogram test. Later that day My cardiologist told me he thinks he sees a blood clot on my mechanical heart valve. The next day I had TEE. The results were no blood clots. But I have a moderate stenosis and mild regurgitation in my mechanical aortic valve. When I asked for the report I also found out that I have moderate regurgitation in my tricuspid valve. I also have mild regurgitation in my mitral valve.I also had two Pro B type Natriuretic Test. One when I was in the emergency room in May. The other one was a month later my results on the first test 400.8. The second test was 204. My issue is the my cardiologist never told me about my triscupid heart valve or my mitral valve. He also didn't tell me about the Pro B type natriuretic test. On one hand he is having me see a heart valve specialist in Roanake Va. I'm just wondering is my cardiologist is doing a good job. And what can cause moderate stenosis and mild regurgitation in my mechanical aortic valve ? Thank you.

Rita Savelis Sorry to hear about that Mike. "Mild" and "Moderate" are fairly vague terms... Cardiologists can be good doctors, but they still aren't valve specialists so I am hoping the specialist you see will be able to tell you more. My cardiologist only mentioned my aortic valve needing replacement, then when I saw specialists they said the mitral needed replacing as well. Then, during OHS, the tricuspid was repaired (unexpectedly) as well.....
Mike S Thank you Rita. I hope you are doing well !

Emily Rowley Hi Mike, I know this has been some time since you wrote your Post here. I was surprised to hear about Stenosis & Regurgitation in your Mechanical Valve. Unless it's the Valve's Root which is causing the problem. I would encourage getting a second opinion in re your Cardiologist. My Cardiologist too didn't pick up my complex severe heart condition, I am glad I got a second opinion with top Specialist (despite the travel to major City) and now I see an excellent Cardiologist. Whoa not one but three valves Mike and Rita, I am sorry to hear that-Hope you are both doing really well. How have you been getting on, any progress?
Take Care, Emily.
