Hello Community, it's been awhile. When I had my successful AVR back in 2016, I thought I was done with surgery. Nope....On July 10 I will be having a Carotid Endarterectomy. You'd think that after my AVR, nothing would scare me, wrong again, lol! I was wondering if anyone here in the community has had this surgery, and what your experiences were? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Marie Myers So sorry you have to go through another surgery. I have not had a carotid surgery, but it is much less invasive than what you have already been through. It is usually just an overnight stay. Wishing you a swift recovery!
PATRICIA BIJAS Thank you Marie, I appreciate it! I will post after the surgery with good news, God willing.

Saw the Electrophysiologists today regarding 104 heart rate. Wearing a 24 hour Holter moniter now, having my first Echo next month since the OHS. I got the first glimmer of hope, they tell me that if these tests show nothing, then this is just who/what my heart is...that's what I've been trying to make them understand, lol!

Three months out this coming Friday, can't believe how fast the time has flown since the surgery! I Still dealing with a rapid heart beat, have seen a few postings on here dealing with the same issue. I am going to try natural methods for now as opposed to pharmaceutical to try and slow it down. Walked 2 miles today, that was awesome! Still having those crazy "sternum shifts/crunching....how long does that go on? Is this my new "normal"?

Well, received my surgery date for the AVR. It is Friday, February 19th. Now it is "real". I had such an anxiety attack after my phone call with the scheduler, I almost called 911, thinking I actually was having a heart attack. I realize it will be an emotional roller coaster between now and after the surgery, just want it to be over!
