Hi all, just another question, to refresh my wife had mitral value redo in March 16, she was doing well until last few months, when she started having significant edema in legs, they increased her Lasix dosage and it has not rectified the situation, they did a specific blood test on Monday which found the water level in her blood is 300
points over the normal level, I feel my wife's cardiologist does not aggressively treat these type situations, but my wife loves her, has anyone in group had a similar issue post surgery with edema, if so
what was the resolution, I am going to doctor with my wife on Friday
and if doctors response is to continue to watch the situation, I want to have the right questions to ask.
Phyllis Petersen Is she doing any additional testing to make sure things are okay? This sounds scary to me.

Catie B I agree with Barb that a new cardiologist may be in order. Waiting 2-3 months for a recheck with afib and swelling doesn't seem enough.

Hi all, new to the board had logged In under my wife's ID when she was undergoing surgery back in March, have a very uncomfortable question that I hope someone can help with, my wife had a redo of her mitral valve replacement on March 8th, she had a minor issue with incontinence before the surgery but its gotten much worse after due to all of the water pills she is taking to address the CHF, we have been to a urologist and he has tried botox to fix the issue, but that failed, I have been told that incontinence is common after heart surgery if you need to stay on water pills, anyone have advise

Rita Savelis I can definitely see how that would be a problem - incontinence happens with age and water pills would definitely not help. I hope that her urologist (or another one) has another solution forher. You/She needs to stay vocal about this problem which happens to many women.
Take care.
Stephanie Jones did her urologist suggest anything to correct this?
