I had my aortic valve replaced 6 weeks ago at the Cleveland Clinic. My recovery has gone fine with no complications. However, the past week I have noticed that the area around my incision is itchy and it is very annoying - especially at night. Other than that the incision appears to have healed well. Anyone else experience this?

Michael Bronshteyn When I was at the hospital Nurse Practitioner told me that the scar may start itching later as part of recovery. I did not experience a lot of itching though. I am now at the end of 12 weeks. It is sore there but no itching.

Robert Borlick Isn't vitamin E oil for reducing the appearance of the scar? I used it on my joint replacement scars. The scars are now barely noticeable (two years later) but I'm not sure the oil had anything to do with that. LOL.
