Opinion today my surgery was was scheduled for 7:00 am on the way to the hospital they called and cancelled surgery for a positive covid test . I explained that i tested negative and that they were probably looking at my positive anti body test noted through my paper work
the post op said the surgeon canceled the test and that was a final determination for today.
thirty minutes later they called backhand explained that they made a mistake and that "if i would be willing they would un cancel the test . While I still have confidence in the surgeon I have strong concerns about the staff. I am meeting at 1:00 pm with the surgeon to discuss the situation . Do You ThinkI am un reasonable in my apprehension to move forward without further explanation ?

Second Aortic valve to be replaced.
just had Tee test to confirm Aortic regurgitation ( moderate) level.
The first surgery was in December 2015 Aortic Valve replaced with bovine valve with a pace maker installed a few days latter. This news seems very surprising to me since a feel well and have been active with work and exercise on a daily basis.
I will be taking a street echo on the tread mile as soon as next week ( slight ankle sprain prevented earlier testing on a tread mill :(
It seams unusual to me that i would need a replacement valve so soon when the first surgery was only four years ago.
Ejection fraction of 65 with a left branch bundle block.
Has any one else had surgery so soon after the first valve replacement

Marie Myers When I found out I needed surgery, making the valve decision was very difficult for me. My surgeon asked me to consider a mechanical valve, which I did. Ultimately I chose a bovine valve at age 63. My decision was mostly a decision against Coumadin. I am almost 3 years post surgery, and I do still sweat the yearly heart exam a bit. There is no way to know how many years anyone will get from their biological valve.

Catie B Hi Rob. I hate to hear this about your valve. I hope you'll keep us posted as you walk this out. Unfortunately, I'm in a similar situation. I certainly hoped and expected my bovine valve to have a longer life. In 2016 three surgeons recommended that I choose a tissue valve, because most medications hurt my stomach (including warfarin--I had post-op afib and had to take it a few weeks). My valve has rapidly become stenotic. I'm going to schedule a second opinion. Haven't had a TEE but hope to. I was 57 in Sep 2016 when my valve was implanted. Best to you!

Deepak Khanka Rob, there is also one more product tissue valve in the market but doesn’t have enough data. It’s been tested on sheep’s to give as good results as mechanical valves .As mention less data on humans . I am due for a second OHS after the failure of David’s procedure my surgeon spoke to me about this option
