Good morning all. Quick question please. I am 10 weeks out from full open to replace with mechanical valve. According to the docs and nurses all is well. I participate in rehab three days a week and progressing very well. However, no more than ever I can hear my beat and sometimes the clicking. I have had friends say they can hear it when they stand close to me. Concerned about this and requesting thoughts and opinions. All my best,

Robert Miller I was concerned about the clicking before my surgeries. Luckily, in both cases it was a repair. Having said that, my surgeons compared it to a mechanical clock, either wrist watch or one on the wall. So if it's quiet you, your partner or even other people being next to you might hear it. However, with few exceptions, most people with the implant will tune it out, just as they tuned out that clock. You can still hear it when you listen to it. So I wouldn't be overly concerned. Just mention it to your cardiologist during the next visit. Make sure you distinguish between the clicking and feeling your heart beating/pounding for no good reason, though.
