Hi Adam, I would still consider myself having a “heart” condition, even with good echo results following surgery. Rational is that I would be concerned that insurance company may say I had not fully disclosed my valve issue and deny converage should an incident occur. (but that’s just me😃)

Valerie Allen In part I would consider what medication I needed on an ongoing basis. If nothing targeted to Just the prior heart surgery and the dr says looks great, I would probably answer no. But discussing with cardiologist is wise as they’d do paperwork to back you up if ever needed.
Good luck with your surgery tomorrow.

What a blessing that you investigated that sinus pain!
My physician casually listened to my heart when I went to get a prescription renewed for arthritis! I thought he was silly to even make the suggestion that I had a murmur. But he was right.

Hi Adam, I know how you feel. I too did not want OHS, however from the day I discovered I had a murmur to surgery turned out to be 5 years. I went to give blood and they told me no, because of a heart murmur...Hmmm, never had one before. So I went to the cardiologist and they told me I had mitral and tri-cuspid regurgitation, mild. Valves looked good and normal otherwise. No symptoms, so I was told if anything changes call. I too was very active: kayaking, biking, not really a runner. Fast forward to this past April, check-up, Nurse Practitioner says, "Do you know you have a murmur?" Me: Yes, we had this checked out 5 years ago. Ok, she said nothing more. Over the summer I had no energy, but still kept up with the biking and kayaking until school started. An upper respiratory infection slowed me down, then I started to get chest pains walking up stairs - Hmm, something is not right. October 2 - The second the cardiologist listened to my heart she said, "This is NOT what I heard before!", and off I went for an Echo: Result SEVERE aortic stenosis! Where did that come from? Symptoms got worse and by the time I saw the surgeon October 25, he said he wanted me in the hospital the next day and surgery would be on Friday 10/27. I was in good health otherwise and had a mini-incision. Two weeks later I feel great and am up and about. In 6 months I should be able to do everything I was doing before. Best wishes whatever you decide...
Adam Brown Thanks for sharing Wendy. I hope you continue to do well and get back outdoors.
