Meredith Bray Can you find a distraction? A new hobby? Volunteering? Going back to school? A goal to focus on? If I could change one thing from the eyars I was waiting to get sicker, I think I would have tried harder to get myself healthier. Even though lifestyle doesn't play a big factor in our particular heart disease, I would have liked to have gone in to surgery feeling better about my health since I'm overweight and don't really like to exercise. If you don't like the way you feel doing strenuous exercise, I would definitely suggest stretching or yoga or swimming. ANYTHING to improve muscle tone. Unless you're already physically fit. In that case, move in next door to me and take me up as your volunteer project! :) LOL j/k

Hi Ashli! Welcome to the site! I'm 33 and just had my second valve replacement surgery. I had the Ross Procedure 18 years ago when I was 15. It served me very well!
I went mechanical this time for my AVR in hopes of it being my last open heart. The cadaver valve I had put in my pulmonary valve position (during the Ross) is still doing great so it didn't need replaced this time.
I'd be glad to answer any questions for you. Let me know if I can help!
